Green smoothies are the trend right now when it comes to starting a healthy diet. What I love about green smoothies is that you can take them to go and they’re pretty quick to make. All you’ll need is a nice blender to help you start blending.
If you’ve never bought your own blender before, then you’re in luck. Here are a couple of blenders you can rely on for making smoothies. Hopefully by the end of this article, you will find the best blender for green smoothies that you can buy for your home.

What you should look for in a blender
There are many kinds of blenders out there, some can be handheld and are perfect for travelling while some are pretty heavy-duty. Blenders also vary in power, which is why it is very important to know your blending needs.
If you are blending one or two glasses for yourself, then you might do fine with a less powerful blender. But if you are blending for more than one person, then you should probably opt for a more powerful heavy duty blender.
This article will contain five blender suggestions that vary in price range, blending quality, and features. Hopefully my suggestions will help you come to a decision when buying a blender you can use for making smoothies.
Without further ado, here are five blenders I recommend for making smoothies.
Top 5 blenders
The KitchenAid KSB1575ER 5-Speed Diamond Blender is the second cheapest blender included in this article. It is perfect for you if you’re on a budget and if you plan on making a couple glasses of green smoothies.
This blender has an Intelli-Speed Motor Control feature that maintains the right speed when blending all of your ingredients. This means you can easily rely on this blender to provide you with a smooth non-lumpy drink.
This blender is great because it can help you do more than just frozen drinks with its five modes including, Stir, Chop, Mix, Puree, Pulse, and Liquify.
One more thing I like about this blender is that it is fairly easy to clean. It has a shatter and scratch proof pitcher that can be washed using a dishwasher.
- Dishwasher Safe
- Medium power can take longer to blend hard food
The KitchenAid KHB2561CU 5-Speed Hand Blender might be the best blender for you if you are always on the go. This hand-held blender can easily be placed in your travel bag since it has a set of small and light parts.
This blender features an 8-inch removable blending arm with interchangeable blades that can be used for several cooking needs.
What I like about this blender is that it can easily puree soups, froth milk, and crush ice. Another great thing about this blender is that you can directly start blending in a Mason jar or large glass.
However, since this blender isn’t as powerful as dock-based blenders, it can take a longer time to blend green smoothies. Another disadvantage of using a hand-held blender is that it can be quite messy to use, especially if you’re blending in a short glass.
- Portable and light
- Dishwasher Safe
- Multiple cooking uses
- Includes multiple blades
- A bit messy to use
- Medium power can take longer to blend food
If you’re on a somewhat tight budget but would still like to make your own smoothies, then the Ninja Professional Blender (NJ600) might be the perfect one for you. At only $78 USD you will be able to effectively blend all sorts of foods with this powerful blender.
The Ninja Professional Blender features three sets of blades, making it easy to completely blend even the hardest of foods. It can even pulverize solid ice cubes in mere seconds!
This blender is also perfect for making several glasses of smoothies since it has a generous 72-ounce pitcher. So if you feel like making more than two glasses of smoothies, this blender will do you just right. It’s also pretty heavy duty for a blender that’s well under a hundred dollars.
- Powerful and fast blender
- Heavy duty and long lasting
- Dishwasher Safe
- Large capacity pitcher
- Very loud when used
- Not very good with blending Kale
The Blendtec Total blender might just be the most popular blender included in this article. This blender has made a name for itself by showing off its powerful features in a series of YouTube videos called “Will It Blend”.
If you’re planning on making several glasses of smoothies in a short amount of time, then the Blendtec Total Blender could be the best one for you.
This blender has a 3-horsepower direct drive motor that can blend through pretty much anything. It does however come at a pretty hefty price of $390 dollars.
What I like most about the Blendtec Total Blender is its futuristic-like design. I say futuristic because it comes with digital touchpad controls and pre-programmed blending cycles.
The pre-programmed blending cycle makes this blender perfect for blender newbies and it will allow you to freely multitask around your kitchen while your food is blending.
The Blendtec Total Blender is also very easy to clean, you don’t even have to put it in your dishwasher. All you’ll need to do is put in some soap water and give it a whirl for a couple of seconds followed by plain water for rinsing.
- Powerful and Fast
- Easy to clean
- Durable and long lasting
- Great for beginners
- Has Pre-programmed blending cycles
- Has a large pitcher
- Great futuristic design
- Can be very loud
- Has an expensive price tag
The last and most expensive blender included in this article is the Vitamix 5200 Series Blender. As you should expect from a $499.99 USD blender, the Vitamix can easily blend through any type of food within seconds because of its 2-horsepower motor.
Although its motor has less horsepower than the Blentec Total Blender, you won’t really notice the difference.
What’s great about the Vitamix 5200 series blender is that it has a very large 64-ounce pitcher that is perfect for making large batches of smoothies, purees, or shakes. It also has an easily adjustable speed that can help you end up with varying textures.
What’s more is that this blender can easily cut through the hardest of frozen foods since its blades can reach speeds that generate heat friction.
The Vitamix 5200 series is also very easy to clean. Just like the Blendtec Total Blender, all you’ll have to do is put in some soap water and turn on the blender for a couple of seconds followed by plain water for rinsing.
However, despite the power that comes with the Vitamix 5200 series blender, it can be really hard on the ears due to its loud blending noise.
Another thing that I’m not too excited about this blender, is its design. It has an “old-school” looking dial that may be hard to use for blending especially if you’re a beginner.
- Powerful and Fast
- Large capacity pitcher
- Can easily blend cold food
- Heavy-duty and long-lasting
- Very loud
- Not good for beginners
I’m sure that by the time you reach this point of the article you must already have a certain idea about what type of blender you will need. As you can see there are a variety of blenders out there that can easily fit your price range and cooking needs.
I for one highly recommend choosing the Blendtec Total Blender over all the other blenders included in this article. The Blendtec Total Blender may come at a hefty price, but it could easily be the only blender you’ll every buy.
It’s very powerful quick blender, it has a large capacity pitcher that’s just enough for making several glasses of smoothies, and it has pre-programmed blending cycles that makes it easy to use for pretty much anyone.
What’s more is that considering it’s lower price compared to the Vitamix 5200 blender, it still performs as well as its more expensive counterpart.
If you are planning on buying a blender soon, go with the Blendtec Total Blender, it will surely be worth every buck.
